Construction

Plastic kit. Now supplied with excellent 12mm spoked metal wheels that you will unfortunately need to replace with smaller ones for HO (e.g. Kadee #522 10.5mm disc - pinpoint axles, length 26mm). Brass bearings now come with the kit and must be fitted, because the axle box moulding has been altered to take them.

Phil Burkett wrote in Satellite 1:87 #1:
"This kit is also available as the GWR and SR gunpowder van. Believe it or not, this model has exactly the same dimensions as the former Lima 10ft ventilated van - in fact the axle boxes are a fraction finer! All you have to do to convert it to 1:87 is to move in the buffer centres to 20mm and fit replacement buffers. The kit will lend itself easily to other types of van. I bet these wagons would look great with RP25/88 wheels installed!"
